On July 30, 2026, Dr. Yang Zhao from the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at the University of Western Ontario was invited by Dr. Yuxuan Xiang to visit Xiang Lab and deliver an academic lecture titled "Materials, Interfaces, Recycling for the Next Generation Batteries."

Dr. Zhao systematically presented his group's recent progress on advanced materials and interfaces for next-generation battery systems, including Li metal batteries, Na batteries, and solid-state batteries. He highlighted the design of artificial interfaces for battery electrodes using atomic layer deposition (ALD) and molecular layer deposition (MLD) techniques, shared his work on solid-state Na-ion and Na-S batteries, and introduced his group's efforts on the recycling of solid-state batteries. This seminar provided valuable insights and inspiration for our research in advanced battery materials and interface design.
